Frequently asked questions

Deleting your account and your data

You can delete your Medly account, and the personal data attached to it, at any time. You don't need our permission and you don't need to email anyone first, deletion is built into the app.

Delete your account from inside Medly

  1. Sign in to the Medly app, or to app.medlyai.com in your browser.
  2. Open Manage account, from your profile avatar at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop, or from the menu button on mobile.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the panel and tap Delete account.
  4. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Permanently delete account.
  5. Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out. This cannot be undone.

Can't sign in? Ask us to delete it for you

Email contact@medlyai.com from the address on your account, with "Account deletion request" as the subject. We'll confirm it's you and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner.

If you have a subscription that's still renewing

Cancel it before you delete your account, so you aren't billed again. You can cancel from the same Manage account panel on the web, and subscriptions bought through the App Store are cancelled in the App Store. A subscription you've already cancelled but are still using until the end of the paid period, and one-off purchases, won't hold up deletion.

What we delete

  • Your name and display name
  • Your email address, and any parent or guardian email on the account
  • Your password and sign-in credentials, so the account can no longer be logged into
  • The customer reference that links you to our payment provider
  • Any links between your account and a linked parent or student account, including pending link requests

What we keep, and why

  • Your answers, marks and AI tutor conversations, kept in anonymised form with your name, email and login details stripped out, so they can no longer be traced back to you. We use them to check our marking quality and improve Medly.
  • Non-identifying profile details such as your avatar and onboarding answers, kept for the same reason.
  • Records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records for purchases you have already made, retained for as long as the law requires.

Want only some of your data deleted?

If you'd rather keep your account but have particular data removed, for example your AI tutor conversations, email contact@medlyai.com and tell us what you'd like deleted. We'll handle it as a data request under our privacy notice.

Subscribing on mobile?

Subscriptions can't be purchased inside the Medly mobile app. To start or manage your subscription, head to app.medlyai.com/plan in your browser. Once you're subscribed, sign in on the mobile app with the same account and your access will sync automatically.

Already subscribed through the previous Medly app? You can keep managing that subscription in the App Store, just like before.

Medly is designed to follow official exam board guidelines and marking schemes, ensuring your work is assessed according to the exact same standards used in real exams.

Medly is designed for students at all levels. It adapts to their current level and helps build confidence through two key study modes:

  • Learn and Practice Mode

Perfect for learning a topic from scratch or testing your knowledge after class. Like a smart workbook, it provides instant, personalised feedback as you work through difficult concepts at your own pace.

Exam Mode

Exam Mode is perfect for exam practice, whether you're 4 months away from your exam or it's the day of. Sessions can be customised to target your weak areas and to the time you have.

Medly (Mobile App)

Perfect for building a consistent study habit. The app features quick, enjoyable multiple-choice questions with our signature feedback system. Ideal for learning on the go and gradually strengthening your understanding of key concepts.

Medly Exams (Desktop)

Designed for focused exam preparation, especially for higher-mark questions (4-8 marks) that often appear towards the end of exam papers. Using a keyboard, you'll practice longer-form answers and improve your exam technique through active recall exercises.

Think of Medly as your daily study companion, while MedlyExams as your intensive exam preparation tool.

Yes, all our notes and questions are quality checked by experienced teachers for alignment to your exam board, and coverage of every point on the specification.

Best of all, every question you encounter will be new - we match your exam board's style and requirements. This means you'll get fresh practice material that's aligned with what you'll see in your actual exam.

Once logged in, click on your profile avatar on the bottom left of the screen and click manage my subscription, from there you are able to cancel at any time, for any reason.

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Manage account in the Medly app, or ask us to delete it by emailing contact@medlyai.com. Our account deletion guide walks through the steps and explains exactly which data is deleted and which data we keep.

As with any AI technology, Medly isn't perfect and is not supposed to replace a professional full time teacher. However, Medly is specifically designed for learning and has a lower error rate compared to general AI models.

At present, Medly is available for individual student subscriptions only. For schools interested in bulk licensing or institutional packages, please contact us at contact@medlyai.com.
Yes! Our Medly Bursary Scheme provides free access to up to 50 students each month who face financial barriers to subscribing. Applications are reviewed monthly, with successful applicants notified in the first week of each month.
Student safety is a priority at Medly. Our AI tutor includes built-in safeguarding features that detect when a student may need support, responding with empathy and signposting to appropriate resources like Childline and Samaritans. Our safeguarding leads are certified and have enhanced DBS checks. You can read more on our Safety page.
