The exam

Three steps, one question shape

  1. Step 1

280 multiple-choice items over one eight-hour day. Pass or fail.

A vignette, then the mechanism, the pathology or the drug behind it. Basic science applied to a patient.

    How Medly helps

    Vignettes at exam length

Stems with the history, the vitals and the labs, and distractors as plausible as the exam's.

  2. Step 2 CK

316 items over one nine-hour day. Scored.

Diagnosis and the next best step in management. Some items run as sequential sets on one patient.

    How Medly helps

    Why the answer is wrong

Miss a diagnosis and Medly explains the finding that rules it out, then sets another case on the same reasoning.

  3. Step 3

Two days: multiple choice, then multiple choice with 13 computer-based case simulations.

Day-one items on the foundations of practice; day-two items and simulations on managing a patient over time.

    How Medly helps

    Weighted to the blueprint

Your plan spends more days on the systems and tasks the exam weights most.

Everything you need to pass

Exam-style questions, every format

Vignettes, item sets, calculations and constructed responses, written the way your exam writes them and marked the way it marks them.

A study plan to exam day

Medly works out how many questions a day it takes to be ready for your sitting, weighted to the topics worth most, and tracks you against it.

Why, not just what

Get a question wrong and Medly explains the reasoning, then lets you try again.

Written answers marked

Constructed responses scored against the examiner's points, with feedback on what earned credit.

FAQs

The CFA Program (Levels I, II and III), the ACCA (all thirteen papers), the USMLE (Steps 1, 2 CK and 3) and the NCLEX-RN, wherever you are. More qualifications are being added.

Each course is written to the format its examiners use: three-option items and vignettes for the CFA, objective tests and constructed responses for the ACCA, single-best-answer vignettes for the USMLE and the Next Generation item types for the NCLEX-RN. The exam bodies are not involved in Medly and do not endorse it.

Against a points-based scheme modelled on the examiner's, with the credit you earned shown line by line. For a constructed response Medly says which points a grader would have looked for and which your answer gave.

As with any AI technology, Medly isn't perfect, so we recommend checking your answers. However, Medly is specifically designed for learning and has a lower error rate compared to general AI models.

Your data is stored either in the UK or USA, depending on where you create your account. We ensure your data remains in the region you signed up from.

No. You pay once for 1, 6 or 12 months of access, and it simply ends when the time is up. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
